Imagine a place where a latte comes with a side of life lessons. That’s the idea behind Bread & Better Life Café, which recently opened at 1010 W. Magnolia Ave., combining specialty coffee and bakery treats with free workshops designed to help people thrive physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

The two-story, 3,000-square-foot café, launched by the Southwestern Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Monday through Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to a release. Its menu features hand-baked pastries, bean-to-cup coffee, specialty espresso drinks, teas, and fresh fruit smoothies.

Bread & Better Life Café’s standout feature is its Community Room, which hosts daily classes at no cost. Workshops fall into six “Life Modules”: Physical Health, Emotional Wellness, Money Matters, Resilient Relationships, Personal Improvement, and Nurturing Faith. Current offerings include grief recovery, financial literacy, and marriage strengthening, while “Mindful Mondays” focus on mental wellness topics such as stress management, anxiety, and depression.

The café occupies a restored 1940s building with exposed brick walls, original geometric ceilings, and large display windows. Inside, oak cushioned chairs, a restored church pew, gold chandeliers with exposed bulbs, potted greenery, and cozy areas like “The Nook,” “The Community Room,” and “The Social Room” create a mix of rustic charm and contemporary comfort.

“Our goal is to offer a space where people can gather not just to enjoy coffee and bakery items, but also to engage in meaningful conversations and personal growth opportunities,” said Phil Robertson, Bread & Better general manager. “Bread & Better was designed to be a welcoming and inspiring place to love and serve our neighbors in the community, and we want our customers to think of it as their ‘go-to’ place to enjoy great coffee while taking the opportunity to learn, recharge, and reflect.”
