The first weekend in October will feature a nice variety of events around Fort Worth. Choices include five concerts spanning multiple genres, screenings of a new film, a ballet production, a new exhibition inspired by a popular HBO series, a local theater production, a screening of London theater production, monster trucks, and a beer festival.

Thursday, October 2

The Cliburn presents 2025 Cliburn Gold Medalist Aristo Sham
The Cliburn will welcome Aristo Sham, their new gold medalist, back to Fort Worth. A longstanding tradition, Sham will perform his Cliburn Concerts debut on the second of back-to-back nights. The performance will include Grieg’s Holberg Suite, Op. 40, Bach’s Chaconne in D Minor, BWV 1004, and more. The performance takes place at Kimbell Art Museum.

Ice Cube in concert
Rapper Ice Cube comes to Fort Worth as part of his “Truth to Power – Four Decades of Attitude” tour. Cube’s first domestic headlining tour in over a decade will highlight his 40-year career, as well as highlight his latest album, 2024’s Man Down. He’ll perform at Dickies Arena.

Johnny Mullenax in concert
Johnny Mullenax is a Tulsa native who has been playing the guitar since the age of 5. Claiming wide-ranging influences from AC/DC and The Ramones to John Coltrane and Parliament, his style is reminiscent of Billy Strings. He’ll make his debut at Billy Bob’s Texas in support of his debut EP, Friend Like You.

Friday, October 3

Magnolia at the Modern: The Summer Book
At her family’s home on a Finnish island, young Sophia (Emily Matthews) explores the natural world with her father (Anders Danielsen Lie) and grandmother (Glenn Close). Adapted from Tove Jansson’s beloved novel, The Summer Book is a delicate account of growing up and growing old. The film will screen six times through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

Texas Ballet Theater presents Peter Pan
Some stories, like some children, never grow old. Texas Ballet Theater will present a charmingly colorful take on the timeless tale of Peter Pan. Featuring bright neons and edgy mohawks, the performance is the perfect combination of mischief and magic as Wendy, Peter, Tinkerbell, and others dance their way across land, sea – and even air. The production will have four performances through Sunday at Bass Performance Hall.

Justin Moore in concert
Country singer Justin Moore has been a big success ever since his debut album in 2009. That No. 3 album on the Billboard Country charts was followed by three straight No. 1 albums and another one that went to No. 2. Moore comes back to Fort Worth in support of his 2024 album, This is My Dirt.. He’ll play at Billy Bob’s Texas.

Saturday, October 4

Arlington Museum of Art presents “Game of Thrones: The Exhibition”
Continuing in their series of pop culture-related exhibitions, the Arlington Museum of Art will open “Game of Thrones: The Exhibition” on October 4. It features more than 60 meticulously crafted costumes from all eight seasons of the HBO series. From Daenerys Targaryen’s regal dragon-scale gowns to Jon Snow’s battle-worn Night’s Watch gear, the collection highlights the vision and detail of the show’s award-winning costume designer and other specialty artisans. The exhibition will remain on display through April 5, 2026.

Casa Mañana presents Junie B. Jones: The Musical
It’s Junie B.’s first day of first grade, and a lot has changed since last year. Junie’s friend, Lucille, doesn’t want to be her best pal anymore and, on the bus, Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid. Throw in a friendly cafeteria lady, a kickball tournament and a “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal,” and first grade has never been more exciting. This hilarious and heartfelt adaptation of Barbara Park’s best-selling books brings Junie B.’s adventures to life on stage. The production runs through October 19 at Casa Mañana.

National Theatre Live presents Frankenstein
Directed by Academy Award-winner Danny Boyle, Frankenstein features Jonny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch as Victor Frankenstein and his creation. Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered Creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. The screening of a live performance in London will be at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

Monster Jam
At Monster Jam, fans can cheer, scream, and be amazed as massive Monster Jam trucks and world champion drivers perform high-flying action and jaw-dropping stunts. The event will feature the newest Monster Jam truck, Tech Deck Wreck Deck. Inspired by the world of skateboarding, the truck treats the stadium like a massive skatepark, catching big air like it’s hitting a vert ramp, stomping landings, and going for the coolest tricks. It takes place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

BTX Brewfest
The annual BTX Brewfest will feature live music, food trucks, 20+ breweries, and local business vendors. Performers will include Grady Spencer & The Work, Dallas Morales, and Ghosts of Hill Country. VIP tickets get in one hour early, festival glass, and a swag bag. The event takes place at Mayor Vera Calvin Plaza in Burleson.

Don Felder in concert
For 27 years, Don Felder served as the lead guitarist for the legendary band the Eagles, co-writing “Hotel California,” and playing on iconic hits like “Best of My Love,” “Heartache Tonight,” “New Kid in Town,” and more. After being fired from the band in 2001, he’s released three solo albums, including the new The Vault – Fifty Years of Music, a comprehensive look at Felder’s musical history. He’ll play at Billy Bob’s Texas in his debut at the venue.
