Barcelona manager Hansi Flick and Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand dropped their respective reactions to Marcus Rashford’s performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
The defending Spanish champions resumed their 2025-26 Champions League campaign on Wednesday night at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium.
Marcus Rashford was included in the Barcelona starting XI and Hansi Flick deployed the on-loan Manchester United forward out on the left-hand side of attack.
The 27-year-old United loanee had an impact in the first half against Paris Saint-Germain after Rashford picked up an assist for Barcelona’s opener in Spain.
Rashford received the ball out on the left from Pedri in a dangerous Barcelona attack and the former Aston Villa forward played a low ball across the PSG box.
An onrushing Ferran Torres latched onto Rashford’s pass and stabbed a sliding shot past Lucas Chevalier and into the bottom left corner of the PSG net.

Despite taking the lead inside the opening 20 minutes at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, Paris Saint-Germain rallied back against Barcelona on Wednesday.
Senny Mayulu cancelled out Ferran Torres’ opener with an equaliser in the 38th minute and PSG and Barcelona went into the break with the scoreline level.
However, the defending Champions League holders would have the last laugh on the night in Barcelona after Goncalo Ramos broke the deadlock in the 90th minute.
PSG clinched a 2-1 win over Barcelona and walked away with all three points, with Luis Enrique coming out on top against his former side on the night.
Speaking on Movistar Liga de Campeones, Hansi Flick said that Marcus Rashford was one of the players who saw the physical demands of the match take its toll.
“I think you could see in the second half that some players were very tired. Marcus, Pedri, [Frenkie] De Jong,” he explained after the match in an interview, as per Diario AS.
“They gave their all on the pitch. At 1-1, you have to defend better. You have to learn and improve against teams of this quality.”
Rio Ferdinand shared his instant reaction to Marcus Rashford’s Barcelona display in the Champions League clash with PSG
Rashford played a large portion of Barcelona’s 2-1 Champions League defeat to PSG before Flick made the decision to withdraw the England international from the tie.
The Three Lions star made way in the 72nd minute of Wednesday’s match and Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski came off the bench in place of Rashford.
Rio Ferdinand reacted to Rashford’s performance during the Champions League clash and the former TNT Sports pundit was impressed with what he saw.
The 46-year-old United legend took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and made a bold admission about Rashford’s Barcelona spell so far.
“#Rashford looks reborn at @FCBarcelona [sic],” he wrote, adding two emojis alongside his post.
Barcelona signed Rashford in the summer on a season-long loan and the United talent has netted twice and picked up five assists in nine appearances so far.
