CLEVELAND, Texas – The oil well fire that prompted a shelter-in-place order in Cleveland earlier Thursday is now under control, and city officials say residents can safely resume normal activities.
Fire crews remain on scene monitoring the site.
The Cleveland Fire Department shared the intense video of flames shooting out of the oil well.
It’s unclear how it all unfolded, but firefighters say it was on Peach Avenue and Nevelle Street, at a stop sign next to the police station.
No additional information has been shared, as of this writing, but KPRC 2 is working to learn more and will make updates to this story as it develops.
