PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A woman is fighting for her life in the hospital after being hit by a vehicle overnight in west Phoenix.
Police responded to the crash around 2:15 a.m. on Monday at 27th Avenue and Pierson Street, just south of Camelback Road. Officers at the scene found the woman lying in the road after being struck.
Firefighters responded to the scene and took the woman to the hospital, where she was listed as having life-threatening injuries.
Phoenix Police said the driver was detained and showed signs of impairment.
This incident remains under investigation.

Officers closed 27th Avenue in both directions overnight after the crash, but the roadway was reopened around 7 a.m.
