The battle over Texas’ political future is now playing out in a federal courtroom in El Paso. A three-judge panel has begun hearing arguments over newly redrawn congressional maps that could help determine which party controls the U.S. House after the 2026 midterm elections.

The federal government is expected to again accept new applications for a program that grants some people without legal immigration status the ability to live and work in the United States.

On Wednesday, a lottery retailer in Fredericksburg was awarded a $250,000 check from the Texas Lottery.
Big’s 103 received the check after selling a winning ticket for the $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot for the Sept. 6 drawing.
