PHOENIX — Drivers in both the East and West Valley may need to adjust their travel plans due to freeway closures.

In the Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory for Oct. 3-6, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) announced that closures are planned for portions of the Loop 101 Pima Freeway in Scottsdale and Loop 303 in the West Valley.

The department added that the schedule for the closures is subject to change due to weather or other factors.

Details of weekend closure on Loop 303

Both directions of Loop 303 are scheduled to be closed between Interstate 10 in Goodyear and Happy Valley Parkway in Peoria. However, the closures are planned for separate nights.

The northbound lanes of the freeway are scheduled to be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The closure for the southbound lanes is scheduled to take place from 10 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Sunday.

These closures are due to pavement sealing.

During the closures, ADOT advises drivers to take the north- and eastbound lanes of the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway between I-10 and Interstate 17 or roads such as Cotton Lane, Sarival Avenue or Happy Valley Parkway during the closures.

ADOT added that crews will open Loop 303 in sections as work is completed on the pavement sealing project.

Details of weekend closure on Loop 101 Pima Freeway

Over in Scottsdale, ADOT has a closure planned for the southbound lanes of the Loop 101 Pima Freeway between Princess Drive/Pima Road and Shea Boulevard.

The closure is scheduled to be in place from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday and is due to the ongoing freeway widening project in that area.

ADOT added that the eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Scottsdale and Hayden roads will also be closed at this time.

The Loop 101 off-ramp at Raintree Drive is already closed and is scheduled to reopen in November.

During this weekend’s closure, ADOT said drivers should take southbound State Route 51 to the eastbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway, which connects with Loop 101 and can be used to get to areas in Scottsdale south of the closure, along with Mesa, Tempe and Chandler.

Drivers headed east on Loop 101 can also avoid the closure by getting off the freeway at Scottsdale Road and then going south to Shea Boulevard, which can be used to reach the freeway.
