CHEBOYGAN COUNTY — History made in Cheboygan County as over 1,500 unserved and underserved homes and business received Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services.

Mike Hogan, a spokesman for Spectrum, tells us ”it’s important that we serve these rural communities. You know, today it’s a, it’s a necessity, the internet. ”

The multi-year rural construction initiative is driven by more than $7 billion in private investment from Spectrum.

They eventually will add an additional 100,000+ miles of fiber-optic network infrastructure and deliver symmetrical and multi-gigabit speed internet access to more than 1.7 million new locations across the country.

Hogan says having these services is no longer a luxury, but a necessity for rural Michigan

Hogan tells us in incredibly remote areas like northern Michigan and in the eastern U.P. “This latest expansion is delivering high speed connectivity and internet services to this county in this type of infrastructure.” adding, ” Investment in rural Michigan is a boon for our small, rural communities. ”

16 other counties in the state have received assistance from Spectrum, including Grand Traverse, Lake, Leelanau, Clare, Missaukee, and Emmet Counties
