NASCAR star Chase Elliott’s preparation for the Bank of America Roval 400 took an unexpected turn thanks to two expectant fans. After the Hendrick Motorsports driver’s thrilling recent victory at the Hollywood Casino 400, he took part in a fan meet and greet where he surprisingly became central to one couple’s major announcement.

The pair handed Elliott a white No. 9 cap along with blue and pink pens and an envelope. The expectant mother then requested that Elliott reveal their baby’s gender to them and sign the hat with the appropriate color.

The couple, who are big NASCAR fans, explained they had just received the news that morning and Elliott would be the first person to find out. “Well, I hope you’re wanting a boy because he’s on the way,” the 2020 Cup Series champion announced. It comes after Denny Hamlin offered a blunt prediction for the future of the sport.

“That’s awesome, congrats,” Elliott continued, laughing as he examined the ultrasound images, “I don’t know what I’m looking at there…That’s a first, I’ve never done that.”

Elliott then inquired if the excited couple had chosen a name, with both admitting they were considering calling him Chase. “I don’t know that I recommend that,” he responded.

Elliott subsequently posted the video on his social media platforms, writing, “These two came out to fan day and asked me to do their gender reveal. That was a first…Congrats you two!”

The 29 year old is poised to hit the asphalt again this Sunday in Charlotte, hunting for his third victory of the campaign as he aims to cap off the Round of 12 in spectacular fashion, having already locked up his spot in the next phase courtesy of his Kansas triumph.

Looking ahead to the Round of 8, Elliott shared with Kevin Harvick his desire to arrive at the Vegas opener with another checkered flag under his belt. “You probably know me well enough to know I’m a week-to-week person.

“And my mindset right now is, how can I position our team to get five more points this week? And that’s going to do nothing but just help us when we get to Vegas,” he revealed on the ‘Harvick’s Happy Hour’ podcast.

An additional victory would also strengthen his championship standing, particularly since he confessed that Vegas has previously “been a little bit of a struggle for us.”

Despite this, he stayed optimistic following “a really respectable run going there last fall.”

Elliott continued, “Another step in the right direction of improvement this past spring. And certainly I think with our performance at Kansas this weekend, I think some of that can translate to Vegas too.”

NASCAR’s Nevada adventure will be followed by two dramatically different challenges at the chaos-prone Talladega and the tight confines of Martinsville. “The big one’s just Talladega and what’s going to happen there, and whether or not we can get through the mess,” Elliott explained.

“And I feel like if we can do that, we have a real shot to make it to Phoenix.”
