A local author invites New Yorkers and visitors to the city to know more about the many fountains that adorn the five boroughs.
Stephanie Azzarone’s new book, “Fabulous Fountains of New York,” looks at the architecture, stories and cultural significance of the various fountains in the city.
The book says the city’s fountains are more than just decorative — they are historical landmarks.
Many were designed to honor men and women of accomplishment and, at one time, designed to keep people from drinking too much alcohol.
