PHOENIX — Police are investigating after a man was found dead, lying in a roadway in west Phoenix in the early hours of Saturday morning, authorities said.

Bryan Desjone Richmond, 27, was identified as the deceased male, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers responded to the area of 37th Drive and McDowell Road for reports of an injured person around 2:26 a.m.

Police said that when officers arrived on scene, they found Richmond north of the intersection and suffering from at least one gun shot wound.

The Phoenix Fire Department pronounced Richmond dead on scene.

Detectives reportedly processed the scene and canvassed the area for any potential evidence.

The investigation remains ongoing.
