SAN ANTONIO — The 13th annual Purple Run on Saturday marked the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, drawing more than 700 participants to Our Lady of the Lake University.

The event aimed to raise awareness and support for survivors of domestic violence, benefiting the Battered Women and Children’s Shelter.

Community leaders, including Police Chief William McManus and Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, delivered opening remarks.

Organizers say holding offenders accountable and helping them change is key to long-term prevention and creating safer communities.
