SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) — A popular Los Angeles sneaker store where famous streamers and athletes shop is speaking out after the owner was arrested during a police raid this week.
The popular Melrose Avenue business, Coolkicks L.A., said in an Instagram post that it has no reason to believe a “small allotment” of Nike sneakers it received was stolen. The business also says none of the shoes were counterfeit.
Police say 33-year-old Adeel Shams is facing a felony charge. He and some of the staff were taken into custody on Friday for allegedly receiving stolen property. Shams has since been released from custody.
The raid took place at a warehouse on Stewart Street in Santa Monica.
In the social media post, Coolkicks L.A. said the raid came as a complete shock.
Shams is due in court on Oct. 23.
