Sean Patrick Doyle
OBITUARY
We lost the best of the best. Sean Patrick Doyle – a husband, dad, grandfather, son, brother and friend – passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025.
Sean was born in San Diego to Larry and MaryAnne (Delaurie) Doyle. He shared a wonderful upbringing with his two sisters Colleen and Megan. A graduate of Patrick Henry, Sean went on to Harvard College where he played varsity volleyball and cultivated lifelong friendships before graduating in 1985. 2 1/2 years later, Sean married his high school sweetheart, Kellie Duncan, and together they raised four children, Erin, Haley, Sean and Ryan.
Sean couldn’t wait to start a family and took great pride in his kids. Sean supported Erin through her athletic achievements coaching her soccer team, living vicariously through her in volleyball, and cheering her all the way to softball nationals in Oklahoma City. He also became a Nutcracker aficionado watching Haley dance ten straight years, from the role of Angel to Flower Queen. He sat front row center for her musical theater productions, often caught blubbering halfway through her first song. When Seaner discovered his passion for lacrosse, Big Sean embraced the sport right alongside him and never missed a chance to root for #44. And with Ryan (a.k.a. “Chuwee”), Sean was his biggest fan. Always the first one on the dance floor, whether at Shelter in Encinitas or at a gig in Brooklyn, he danced the night away with a smile on his face, pointer fingers in the air, movin’ and a groovin’.
Sean loved nothing more than being surrounded by those he loved, a circle that extended to nieces, nephews, grandchildren and the many friends who walked through the front door unannounced. Whether it was five-year-olds rummaging through the pantry for treats or teenagers piling in for a swim in Puerto Backyarda, he delighted in a full house. Some of his happiest days were spent swimming with Cole and Zoey in Gigi’s ‘cuzzi or throwing snowballs at the kitchen window in Mammoth. He shared his love for camaraderie and adventure on trips to Mexico, offering surf instruction followed by a trip to the Cantina, or skiing Mammoth top to bottom trying to log the fastest speed.
Sean enjoyed a long and successful career in commercial real estate and development, primarily in Mexico. As a young graduate, he completed his runnership at Coldwell Banker before diving headfirst into Maquiladoras, honing his Spanish along the way. Sean was a well-known international real estate professional, meeting many colleagues across the globe, most of whom became true lifelong friends.
Sean will be remembered for his bright and infectious personality. He was a positive role model for so many young people, quick with wisdom, encouragement, and of course, a silly dad joke. He could walk into any room and make everyone feel welcome, truly the master of a good story.
Sean was an amazing provider, advisor, entertainer, forever fan, dance partner and best friend. While he leaves a big hole in our hearts, we will always love him, remember him, and honor him by living our lives full of laughter and love.
