SAN ANTONIO — Tim Morgan, a student at Fox Tech, says he first saw signs of a planned protest inside his school.

“I just walked in the restroom and there is flyers all in there,” said Tim Morgan, student at Fox Tech.

Those flyers are from Fox Students League, calling on students at all campuses — and anyone in the community — to walk out on October 7th in support of Palestine. Morgan says he knows some students who plan to go.

“I told them if they wanna do it they can do it but I tried keeping them away from it, I know from what I heard it’s not gonna be nothing good,” said Morgan.

San Antonio ISD officials sent an email to parents expressing their commitment to students’ rights to freedom of speech but also said law enforcement informed them protestors could be armed.

“As a high school student what do you care so much about that you gotta be armed going out there to fight for something,” said Jude Quiroga, student at Fox Tech.

The district is asking parents to tell their kids not to march. But a representative with Fox Students League says the claim about armed protestors is false and that the district is using it to deter people from participating.

Some students say they just want the school to be prepared.

“I feel like our cop really isn’t gonna do that much if people start getting off of campus,” said a student.

SAISD officials says students who leave campuses would face code of conduct penalties. The district has also requested help from a multi-agency law enforcement group called the Southwest Texas Fusion Center to monitor the protest closely.
