President Trump today decided to freeze $18 billion in funding on two infrastructure projects in NY: the Hudson Tunnel and the extension of 2nd Avenue subway. Their reasoning for the cut is that there are DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) principles in place that Trump has labeled unconstitutional. These are funds that were appropriated by the House of Representatives under the Biden’s infrastructure bill.
Any delay in these projects will cost more money and delay both projects by many years. The original subway extension was promised in 1929 and delayed because of the Great Depression, World War II and the 1975 fiscal crisis. The delay now is caused by Trump who is threatened by the idea of an America that is truly diverse. Taking money from states that didn’t vote for him is top on his list of retributions. It is truly disgusting.
Why should we fund a government who only represents those who voted for GOP candidates.
Taxation without representation sounds about right. I do not expect integrity from the convicted felon in the White House. I did think that eventually the Republicans would show some, but alas, they have not.
