SAN ANTONIO – A suspect is behind bars after allegedly driving through a storefront and getting into a fight with people inside.
Around 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, police were called to the scene of the incident near the corner of Old Pearsall Road and Five Palms Drive, on the far South West side.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, an employee at the store called 9-1-1 after the suspect pulled their vehicle in front of the business, exited their vehicle, and asked employees at the business to call Emergency Medical Services, as he told them he was possibly having a medical episode.
While the caller called for help, the suspect, identified as a 35-year-old man, then allegedly re-entered his grey 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe and drove straight through the front door of the building.
After the crash, the suspect then exited the vehicle and started a physical altercation with multiple people inside the store.
Upon police arrival, the suspect was arrested and transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. No major injuries were reported on the scene.
The suspect is facing charges including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
