We pick up from Friday with Jada showing up to arrest Johnny in the middle of the square. EJ starts yelling at the cop handcuffing Johnny, and Chanel rushes out from the bakery demanding to know what’s happening. Johnny tries answering her, but EJ tells his son not to say another word, then threatens to drag Jada down to hell and back if she takes Johnny.

“My son is innocent, and you will damn well treat him accordingly.” He lies about remembering Johnny giving him the gun, but Jada just tells him to find a good lawyer. She takes Johnny away and Chanel demands answers from EJ. He lays out his talk with Johnny and what he remembered from that night — and thinks “that idiot, Rafe Hernandez” is the one who blabbed about Johnny.

Gabi and Rafe Freak Out Over Johnny’s Arrest

Rafe gets home, where Gabi pounces on him with questions about Johnny. Rafe tells her what Johnny told him, but makes it clear he believes Johnny’s innocent. Gabi doesn’t believe it, Rafe tells her he already told Jada. She hopes, though, that Rafe’s right about Johnny’s innocence, or she might earn EJ’s wrath by testifying against Johnny that she was at the mansion that night.

But then Jada calls Rafe to tell him what happened and he rushes out. Gabi leaves a message for Will to tell him about Johnny’s arrest, and when Ari walks into the kitchen, her mom tells her what’s happened and suggests she say a prayer for her Uncle Johnny.

Arianna worries about how her dad will react, then sighs that it was nice having him in town, after which Gabi hands over Ari’s high school diploma that Will just mailed. Then Gabi convinces her daughter to take a photo with it.

Paulina Was Responsible

Over at the Salem police station, Belle lays into Paulina for having Johnny arrested right away instead of having him brought in for questioning. Paulina makes it clear that they can’t dance around this or it’ll look like he’s getting special treatment from his aunt and his mother-in-law. Belle reluctantly agrees, just wishes they could’ve given everyone a heads up.

Paulina isn’t so sure Johnny is innocent — she remembers Johnny’s cold response to learning of EJ’s shooting — but Belle believes in him. She gets a text, though, that it’s done. Jada’s bringing Johnny in.

Paulina cautions that Belle has to let justice take its course without interference, and removes her from the case. Belle understands, and Paulina tells her to stay out of the case completely.

Johnny’s Booked While His Loved Ones Fight

Jada and the Salem cops bring Johnny in, and Belle apologizes for this — just before Rafe comes in to let everyone know how disgusted he is with Jada.

The commissioner tells Rafe to stay out of it, then tells Johnny he can talk to his lawyer after he’s booked. EJ bursts in to say he’s Johnny’s lawyer, then Chanel comes in right after to let her husband know she believes in him and loves him. Johnny’s taken for booking and EJ just growls at Belle, wondering how she could let this happen.

Chanel begs her mom to do something, then flips out at her when Paulina admits she’s the one who gave the order. “I can’t even look at you right now!” She storms out of the station. Johnny, meanwhile, is silently being fingerprinted and getting his mugshot.

Rafe and Jada start fighting over Johnny’s arrest until they start throwing accusations on how she got his job. Fed up, Jada tells him to buzz off, and she’ll get back to her job. He glares at her, then leaves, just as Paulina walks in. Paulina wants to know if Jada thinks it’s plausible Johnny is innocent. Jada just knows he had the means, motive and the opportunity.

EJ Has a Plan

Out in the square, EJ quizzes Belle, where she apologizes, saying she didn’t know Paulina was going to order Johnny’s arrest. He tells the DA that she’s going to be un-recused from the case and make the charges go away. He’ll make it happen.

That’s when he lets on that he’s been thinking Johnny shot him, but not anymore — which earns some sympathy from Belle. But she doesn’t know how they’ll prove his innocence. EJ apologizes for getting upset with Belle, then as soon as she leaves, calls to demand to talk to a judge.

Marlena and Roman Make a New Plan

Marlena drops into the pub, claiming she wants some chowder, but Roman knows she’s worried about Johnny. He tells his ex that Carrie thinks it would be best if Johnny turned himself in. Marlena’s skeptical, but Roman points out that it’s better than the police finding out another way. “We just gotta put our trust in the system.” Marlena reminds Roman about Gabi.

She then apologizes for falling apart earlier, and Roman tells her there’s nothing she needs to be sorry for. But then Marlena gets a text from Belle that Johnny’s been arrested. She wants to rush out, but Roman tells her it’ll be awhile before he’s done being processed and they can see him.

They don’t know what happened, but Roman’s worried the police have evidence against him now. This is going to hit a lot of people — including him, Marlena points out. He has the gun that may have been used to shoot EJ. Roman just shrugs it off. He knew the risks, and now it’s time for him to tell the police what he knows.

Johnny’s brought out of booking, but the cop tells Chanel she can’t talk to him; until Paulina steps in and orders him to let the two have time in the interrogation room.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Gabi and Ari are going through the photos, when the teen asks if it’s OK to go to the pub to check on great-grandpa. Then Rafe gets home and fills a horrified Gabi in that there will likely be a trial and she’ll have to testify. And face EJ’s wrath.

Johnny insists he didn’t shoot his dad, which Chanel believes, but doesn’t know why he lied about everything. “Shame, mostly.” He was in a horrible place and is worried now that things are spiraling out of control and he’ll go down for something he didn’t do.

Chanel tells him everyone’s on his side — except her backstabbing mama — then the cop comes in to pull Johnny away, leaving her to sob in the room.

Marlena rushes over to Belle in the square, saying she’s on her way to see Johnny. She asks how Johnny’s doing and Belle tells her mom he’s nervous and overwhelmed. But Pualina took her off the case and can’t help him.
