EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Dak Prescott ran toward the visitors’ tunnel at MetLife Stadium after the Cowboys’ win over the Jets and heard the chants: “MVP. MVP. MVP.”

The Cowboys quarterback is off to a fast start.

He’s completed 71.3% of his passes with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions and a 101.1 quarterback rating.

This start is better than 2023, when Prescott finished second in the MVP voting to Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson.

In the first five games of that season, Prescott completed 69.4% of his passes with five touchdowns and four picks. He had an 87.5 rating. Of course, Prescott finished the 2023 season strong.

And he’s started 2025 in impressive fashion.

Cowboys fans are noticing.

Did he hear the MVP chants?

“My ears worked,” he said, laughing. “So I heard it, but I didn’t hear it. It’s Week 5, I don’t care. I don’t care if it’s Week 17. I’ve told y’all what I want to win, the team goals. Right now, the success and the continued success is gonna happen. (I’m) a beneficiary of all the guys in that locker room. To me, I didn’t play as near as a complete game (that) I wanted to. Way too many incompletions, I got to look back and see why. But yeah, sometimes it’s just happy and excited fans.”
