Birthday pancakes: Breakfast Republic’s original location in North Park is turning 10 years old, and to celebrate, the restaurant is introducing birthday pancakes. tokidoki exhibition: On Monday, Comic-Con Museum will open a new exhibition of collectible items from the tokidoki lifestyle brand, which was created in 2005 by Italian artist Simone Legno and his partners, serial entrepreneurs Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold. Inspired by Japanese art and culture, the global brand has expanded to include apparel, handbags, cosmetics, toys and more. Fourth of July carnival: The National City Lions Club is hosting its annual Fourth of July Carnival from July 2-6 at Kimball Park, 12th and D streets, with fireworks at the park at 9 p.m. July 6. ‘Indian Princesses”: La Jolla Playhouse presents the world premiere of Eliana Theologides Rodriguez’s play that follows the lives of five young girls of color and their White dads who meet in a community father-daughter bonding program. 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays; 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays; 1 and 7 p.m. Sundays. Mira Mesa fireworks show: In addition to this nighttime fireworks show, a community picnic is from 4 to 9:30 p.m. at Hourglass Field Community Park, 10440 Black Mountain Road. A car show will be in the parking lot on the north side of the field. Oceanside fireworks celebrate city’s 137th birthday: Gates open at 4 p.m. and there will be family-friendly lawn games and crafts along with food trucks. At 6 p.m. a DJ will start spinning dance music. Parking at the SoCal Soccer lot is $15 per car; parking lot entry closes 8:30 p.m. Free parking at Ocean Ranch Business Park. “Moulin Rouge! Big Bay Boom: One of the state’s largest Fourth of July fireworks displays happens in the San Diego Bay. The public can watch the Big Bay Boom at the Coronado Ferry Landing, Harbor Island, North Embarcadero, Marina District, Shelter Island and on boats in the bay. Event organizers say spectators can bring lawn chairs to these watch locations. 9 p.m. Friday. San Diego Bay. Free. bigbayboom.com
Drone show: For the third time, the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club and the LJ STEAM Foundation are putting on a Fourth of July drone show in La Jolla. The drone show features 500 synchronized drones 350 feet above the La Jolla Shoreline. Patriotic music will be playing in the background of the show. The public viewing area is at the south end of Kellogg Park, according to event organizers. An exclusive viewing area is available at the La Jolla Shores Hotel’s Acapulco Room. 9 p.m. Tonight. Independence Day Parade: This annual parade brings together red white and blue floats, performers and community groups. It takes a path south on Orange Avenue, beginning at First Street and Orange and ending at Churchill Place and Ocean Boulevard. San Diego Symphony Presents “Fourth of July: America in Song”: In celebration of Independence Day, this outdoor concert will feature conductor Ted Sperling, vocalists Morgan James, Nicholas Christopher and Bryonha Marie performing a wide range of music and songs by American composers. 7:30 p.m. tonight. Fourth of July buffet: San Diegans can sample a special Mediterranean buffet, overlooking San Diego Bay, right before the Fourth of July Big Bay Boom fireworks show. Brunch barbecue: Swing Social in the Gaslamp Quarter is serving a special barbecue brunch for the Fourth of July weekend.
