PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Hot temperatures return this week to the Valley, but so do rain chances.
Look for a high of 94 degrees today in the Valley, which is close to what is considered normal or average for this time of year in Phoenix. Morning temperatures will continue to bottom out in the 60s and 70s.
As high pressure builds over the region this week, afternoon temperatures in the Valley could climb to near 100 degrees for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. High pressure moves away and weakens as low pressure moves in from the west and tropical moisture surges north.
Hurricane Priscilla should weaken by late in the week, but the storm will still push tropical moisture into Arizona from its forecast position off the Baja Peninsula. Rain chances are near 20% on Thursday and near 30% for Friday and Saturday. Rain could be heavy at times, leading to localized flash flooding. Thunderstorms are also possible.
There is a lot of uncertainty still with rain chances, rain amounts and timing. We will keep you updated.
