WASHINGTON (TNND) — On the second anniversary of Hamas’ October 7, 2023, attacks, which killed close to 1,200 people, a coalition of far-left organizations, including one run by Philadelphia public school teachers and faculty, is organizing a rally celebrating the efforts of what they call “Palestinian resistance fighters.”
The Racial Justice Organizing Committee shared a flyer to its Instagram page promoting the rally, which includes a depiction of a fighter waving the Palestinian flag with the phrase underneath it stating “Reject normalization! Honor the martyrs! Uplift resistance!”
“October 7 marks two years since Palestinian resistance fighters bravely broke out of the prison that the zionist regime has turned Gaza into,” the caption of the photo posted to Instagram stated. “Now more than ever, we must reject all normalization with the zionist regime, uplift indigenous Palestinian resistance, and honor the martyrs.”
The Racial Justice Organizing Committee was created in 2020 after its founding members decided to make the Caucus of Working Educators, a caucus within the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers, into an independent organization. The Racial Justice Organizing Committee boasts at least eight core members who work within Philadelphia schools, with the most notable positions being held by Blair Downie, an assistant principal, and Ismael Jimenez, who is the Director of Social Studies for the school district.
In November 2020, Jimenez made a social media post stating that “Israel is a terrorist state.”
Other core Racial Justice Organizing Committee members who work within the Philadelphia school district include Hannah Gann, Dana Carter, Keziah Ridgeway, who was previously suspended for allegedly waging threats against Jewish parents, Nick Bernardini, Shaw MacQueen, Adam Sanchez, Nick Palazzolo and Kristin Luebbert.
The rally is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, but its exact location remains unknown.
