Carjacking suspect arrested after chase with deputies across Houston ends near Sunnyside

  • October 7, 2025

A man is in custody after a high-speed chase that stretched across multiple parts of Houston late Monday night, ending in a crash before a brief foot chase.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies with Constable Precinct 1 spotted a vehicle connected to an earlier carjacking on the city’s northwest side near Highway 249 and Antoine around 9:45 p.m. When they tried to pull the driver over, the driver sped off, sparking a chase that lasted nearly 45 minutes.

Investigators said the chase went through several major roadways, including I-45, Hardy Toll Road, and Airline Drive. At one point, a deputy’s patrol unit collided with a motorcycle near Aldine Bender and Hardy Toll Road.

The female motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Officials said the deputy and K-9 partner inside the patrol unit were not seriously hurt. Another patrol car also sustained minor damage during the chase.

The pursuit ended when the unidentified suspect crashed near Sunnyside and ran off before getting caught by deputies.

Authorities said the driver is expected to face multiple charges, including aggravated robbery, felony evading, and possibly home invasion, as the investigation continues.
