The Los Angeles Dodgers continued their unbeaten run to begin the 2025 MLB postseason, surviving a late rally to win 4-3 in Game 2 of their National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. They now head back home to Chavez Ravine with a commanding 2-0 series lead after Blake Snell pitched another gem, Teoscar Hernández starred in the clutch and the Phillies’ big money stars couldn’t come up with big plays in big moments.

Here are the winners and losers from Game 2.

Blake Snell mowed through the Phillies lineup for six innings, carrying a no-hitter into the fifth. The veteran left-hander allowed just one hit, a single, and struck out nine batters on 99 pitches. Locked in a dogfight with Philadelphia right-hander Jesus Luzardo, Snell kept the Phillies potent lineup off the board long enough for his offense to wake up on the road. He now has a 1.38 ERA across 13 innings this postseason.

The lone real blemish against Snell’s final line was four walks issued, but he helped erase one of those walks with a pickoff move to first that turned into a caught stealing at second. Philadelphia went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position against Snell.

As he has for the duration of the postseason, Teoscar Hernández continued to come up big in the clutch for the Dodgers. The slugging right fielder went 2-for-3 with a walk and two singles, starting Los Angeles’ four-run seventh inning with a single to center field. He tried to lead off the eighth inning with a double, but was thrown out stretching at second base.

Hernández now leads the Dodgers in almost every major offensive category across 17 at-bats this postseason, including batting average (.412), home runs (3), RBI (9), OBP (.444), hits (7), slugging (1.000) and OPS (1.444).

Losers: Kyle Schwarber and Bryce HarperMLB: Playoffs-Los Angeles Dodgers at Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies second and third best hitters per fWAR this season, Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper were nowhere to be found on Monday night, going a combined 0-for-6 with three strikeouts. With one on and one out in the eighth inning and the Phillies trying to come back from a 4-1 deficit, Schwarber struck out swinging and Harper lifted a shallow fly ball to center, ending the rally.

Members of the rest of the Phillies’ lineup like Alec Bohm, Bryson Stott and Brandon Marsh typically receive the brunt of the blame from Philadelphia’s passionate fans when the team falls into a rut, but it was their stars who couldn’t pull their own weight in Game 2. Along with shortstop Trea Turner, the top three spots in the Phillies’ lineup have just two hits all postseason.

The Dodgers survived, but veteran reliever Blake Treinen had little to do with the win. Treinen entered in the top of the ninth inning and threw just 12 pitches, but still managed to let three runners aboard, bringing the game-winning run to the plate.

Consecutive doubles from J.T. Realmuto and Nick Castellanos forced Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts to give Treinen the hook and slashed the Dodgers’ lead to 4-3. The rest of the Dodgers’ bullpen managed to recover, in large part thanks to a highlight play from their defense. A sacrifice bunt attempt went right to third baseman Max Muncy, who relayed to shortstop Mookie Betts — charging to cover Muncy’s position at third — to erase the lead runner.

Roki Sasaki secured the save, forcing a Trea Turner groundout, but Treinen now owns a 13.50 ERA in 1.1 innings this postseason.
