The collaboration will unfold on Thursday, October 9, at ChòpnBlọk, and Thursday, October 23, at Trill Burgers (both 9–11 p.m.). Night one is an after-hours service at ChòpnBlọk’s Montrose location, featuring Afro-soul DJ sets and one-night-only dishes that fuse Trill Burgers’ comfort food with ChòpnBlọk’s West African flavors—think suya sliders, loaded fries, and more. Night two is at Trill Burgers, with the ChòpnBlọk crew stepping into the Trill kitchen for West African–inspired takes on the joint’s burgers and tenders.

For Amosu, the reason to take part in this collaboration sits at the heart of ChòpnBlọk’s mission. “First and foremost, it’s a way for us to bridge the gap within the African diaspora, which is important to us and part of our overall mission,” he tells Eater. “Given Bun and my history as professor and student at Rice University, it’s cool to be able to come back together and put on for the city.”

Bun B frames the linkup as something personal, too. “It was important to show the full-circle aspect of our relationship as well as how much our respective cultures play into our restaurants,” he says. “It also speaks to how important collaboration and community are for both of us. Houston’s racial diversity should be spotlighted and celebrated for its cultural impact and influence. What better way than this partnership.”

This is the final restaurant stop in ChòpnBlọk’s Celebration Circuit—a month-long run of events marking the one-year anniversary of its Montrose flagship at 507 Westheimer Rd, which turned one on October 1.

And if you’re wondering, Amosu’s favorite UGK track is “Get Throwed.” Fitting for a celebration.
