VIA Metropolitan Transit wants to hear from you.
San Antonio’s mass-transit system will host public information sessions this month to gather feedback on its “Better Bus Plan,” which is expected to be implemented in early 2026.
The plan aims to improve reliability and efficiency across VIA’s system. It includes improvements to 27 bus routes and the retirement of four more: Route 243 Flores/Pleasonton, Route 296 Vance Jackson, Route 614 Hidden Cove/Kel-Lac and Route 617 Kel-Lac/Rainbow Hills.
The plan also include service adjustments, route openings, route closures, stop frequency changes, schedule adjustments and more. A list of all proposed amendments to the VIA system is available online.
If approved by VIA’s board, the changes will go into effect on in January.
VIA will host two public hearings on the changes. The first will be Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Lackland Baptist Church, 2718 Frontier Drive. The second will take place Thursday, Oct. 25, at the VIA Metro Center, 1021 San Pedro Ave. Both hearings will begin at 5:30 p.m.
