I am thoroughly disgusted with the fact that the mayor of Philadelphia allowed a flag-raising ceremony for the People’s Republic of China on Sept. 30. Why in the world is the mayor honoring China in the city of our nation’s founding?

This was an official act on our soil that is showing support for a nation that persecutes people of numerous ethnicities and faiths, such as the Uyghurs, most of whom are Muslims. China manufactures fentanyl, which has harmed numerous Americans, and it stifles the freedom of speech and freedom of assembly of its citizens.

I believe we need to censure the mayor of Philadelphia for such an action. I know that her reason was to honor organizations here in the United States that are civic organizations providing support for Chinese immigrants, but flying the five-star red flag seems to indicate that Philadelphia celebrates and supports the People’s Republic of China and its violations of human rights!

As a patriot and veteran, I see no reason to visit or support a city that does this. I am sure I will not be visiting Philadelphia any time soon.

God bless America, home of the free and the brave. We stand for freedom, not communism.
