The Chicago Cubs are still alive in the National League Division Series after a 4-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday night.
The Cubs used a four-run first inning to build a cushion, and their bullpen helped guide things home as they allowed just one run over the final five innings to keep the Cubs alive in the best-of-five series.
Now, the series will continue Thursday night at Wrigley Field, with the Cubs hoping to force a winner-take-all game in Milwaukee later this week.
Here’s what you need to know.
What time will Game 4 start?
The Cubs and Brewers will play a night game on Thursday, but the start time has not yet been determined.
That’s because the Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies will help to determine that start time, as Game 3 of their series will be played on Wednesday night.
If the Dodgers win to finish off a three-game sweep over the vaunted Phillies, then the Cubs and Brewers would start their game at 6:08 p.m. Central time, with the game airing on TBS and streaming on HBO Max.
If the Phillies can extend the series with a win, then their game with the Dodgers would start at 5:08 p.m. Central time in Los Angeles, and the Cubs and Brewers would follow at 8:08 p.m. Central time at Wrigley Field, according to Major League Baseball.
When would Game 5 be played?
If the Cubs can force a winner-take-all Game 5 at Milwaukee’s American Family Field, that game would be played on Saturday at either 3:38 p.m. or 7:08 p.m., depending on the outcome of the other National League Division Series.
Who will be the starting pitchers in Game 5?
While neither team has named their starting pitcher yet, the extra day off in the series could help reveal that answer.
Matthew Boyd started Game 1 for the Cubs on short rest, and he would be in line to start Game 4 on his regular four days rest if the Cubs choose to go that route. The Brewers could then do the same thing with Freddy Peralta, who struck out nine batters and allowed two earned runs in 5.2 innings of work in a Game 1 win on Saturday.
