FC Barcelona’s 2024-25 financial report shows that while the club made a modest two million euro profit, new details reveal the cost of behind-the-scenes challenges. Extraordinary losses, including accounting adjustments for players and devalued subsidiaries, paint a more complicated picture than the headline numbers suggest.

A major factor was Bridgeburg Invest SL, the holding company behind Barça Vision, Barcelona’s digital and audiovisual division. This includes Barça Studios, eSports, fan tokens, NFTs, and other Web3 initiatives. The club merged Bridgeburg into Barça Produccions to simplify its structure, but had to devalue the company by 65 million euros due to unpaid investor contributions and adjustments in its valuation.

On the player side, Barcelona recorded amortization adjustments for Vitor Roque and Clément Lenglet. Even though both players had left the club, their previous transfer fees were still treated as assets on the books. The club had to write down the remaining value of these transfers, reflecting that they would no longer generate financial returns. This is a standard accounting procedure to keep the club’s financial statements accurate.

Other extraordinary items included a 15 million euro UEFA fair play fine, and operational costs and salaries, which brought the total net result into a 17 million euro loss after extraordinary items. Player salaries alone topped 534 million euros, with bonuses inflating the wage bill, while management and operational costs added another 358 million.

Even with these setbacks, Barça continues to generate record commercial and sponsorship income, showing that its economic engine remains strong. The club’s net equity is still negative at -153 million euros, and total debt stands at 469 million euros (excluding Espai Barça), but the leadership hopes the numbers will turn positive once the Spotify Camp Nou fully reopens.

Overall, Barcelona’s board painted a picture of a team recovering financially and on the path to being fully healthy in a fiscal sense, despite these setbacks.
