A suspect wanted in connection with a weekend shooting at a Fort Worth club was arrested Wednesday evening following a brief standoff, police Chief Eddie Garcia said.

Akrell Ross, 20, was taken into custody at a home near the 5400 block of Huffines Blvd., after being tracked down by the department’s fugitive task force, the police chief said in a social media post.

Garcia did not immediately disclose details about the effort to identify, find and apprehend Ross, who had been wanted for the early morning slaying of Patrique Allen, 31.

“This is still an active investigation and as further details become available, they will be provided,” Garcia said in the social media post.

Allen was slain while at the Social Liv nightclub in the 3000 block of Bledsoe Street shortly before 2 a.m. on Oct. 5, according to investigators.

Police have accused the suspect of opening fire inside the West 7th entertainment district venue before running from the scene. It was not clear what led to the gunfire or if the victims were targeted.

Police found Allen suffering from multiple gunshots wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said previously.

Five other victims were treated at hospitals for injuries following the shooting and were said to be in stable condition earlier this week.
