A mega divisional-level job fair will be held in the city on October 17 in which over 200 companies will participate. Mysuru Zilla Panchayat CEO S. Yukesh Kumar said the job fair will be held at the Maharaja’s College Grounds and urged youngsters to make good use of this opportunity.

Speaking at a meeting held to review the preparations for the job fair at the Zilla Panchayat auditorium on Wednesday, Mr. Kumar said that there have been over 16,000 registrations so far and directed the authorities to hold a special registration drive so that more number of youngsters can avail themselves of the job openings provided by the participating companies.

Mr. Kumar said the job fair is not limited to graduates alone and even those with SSLC or PU qualifications can register and take part in their bid to secure a suitable employment. He directed officials to also enroll youngsters who have registered under the Yuva Nidhi. There are nearly 11,000 unemployed youngsters in the district who are registered under this scheme, Mr. Kumar added.

Multiple committees have been constituted to ensure the smooth conduct of the job fair and officials heading the committees have their tasks and responsibilities assigned, said Mr. Kumar, calling for coordination among them.

Underscoring the imperatives of informing and assisting the Yuva Nidhi beneficiaries to register for the job fair, Mr. Kumar directed the District Employment Exchange Department to also to be an active participant in the job fair.

Given that a large numbers of candidates from the Mysuru Division will be attending the job fair, Mr. Kumar instructed the Joint Director of the District Industries Centre to reach out to all the private companies in the Mysuru revenue division and ensure their participation.

District Skill Development officers and officials from various departments were present at the meeting.
