LIV Golf might have made a splash in the world of golf and proven beneficial for a number of players but for one major winning star, it’s looking like a poor move so far.
LIV has given some players the platform to really express themselves and few would deny that Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau have been big success stories for the tour.
However, for every DeChambeau and Rahm, there are others for whom the move simply has not worked out as expected.
One of those golfers who initially started well on LIV but has struggled in recent times is Australian major winner, Cam Smith.
And right now, after another failure to win at LIV Dallas, Smith is in danger of becoming one of golf’s forgotten gems.

Back in 2023, it looked for all the world like Cam Smith was going to end up being one of LIV’s main poster boys.
Three wins suggested Smith was going to be a dominant force and coming off the back of winning The Open in 2022, there was every reason to think Smith would continue to win.
However, fast forward into 2025, and Smith is without a win over on LIV since those three in 2023.
Worryingly for Smith as well, his form in the majors has dipped massively, with four missed cuts in a row now as we head into the 2025 Open at Royal Portrush.
Should he miss another cut and make it five in row, then question marks will start to be asked over whether or not the LIV move really has helped or hindered him.
As of right now, the jury is very much still out.
How Cam Smith can look at Bryson DeChambeau as inspiration
While we are talking about two completely different characters here, there is a lot to be said about Bryson DeChambeau and what he brings to the table for LIV and golf in general.
Sure, Cam Smith is not going to be as eccentric as the American and it’s hard to imagine him throwing himself into YouTube or similar.
But what DeChambeau has done is embrace everything that is good about LIV Golf and run with it.
In doing so, he’s having a positive impact on the whole of golf and his form in 2025 is proof that by embracing things on LIV, the results can follow.
For someone like Smith, DeChambeau is the man to look up to and while his own form is poor, he’s still got plenty of time to turn things around.
