PHOENIX — The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Thursday due to rain.
The stop was issued for departures from Albuquerque’s ZAB. It was in effect from 2:45 to 4 p.m. with a medium (30-60%) chance of extension.
The affected area included central and eastern Arizona, most of New Mexico and parts of Texas.
More than 200 flights were delayed at Sky Harbor as of about 4 p.m., according to FlightAware.com.
Phoenix had not yet received measurable rainfall near its airport, but heavy rain was expected throughout the end of the week and into the weekend due to Hurricane Priscilla remnants.
