An NYPD sergeant was injured in the Bronx on Thursday after shots were fired and he fell and hit his head, police sources said. 

A high-ranking police source initially said a bullet grazed the sergeant’s head during the shooting in the Williamsbridge section, but later sources said the sergeant was not shot. 

The shooting happened late Thursday night in the area of East Gun Hill Road, where video showed a heavy police presence, including a line of police cruisers and the sidewalk blocked off. 

According to police, shots were fired during a scuffle. The sergeant fell to the ground and hit his head, which caused his injuries. 

There was no word on what led to the scuffle or if any suspects were in custody.
