1. Texas appeals court pauses Robert Roberson’s execution
The Court of Criminal Appeals of Texas has paused the execution of Robert Roberson, a Texas man convicted in the 2002 death of his 2-year-old daughter Nikki Curtis.
Texas Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Allen, posted the news on X saying, “Truth and justice win the day.”
2. Houston-area shootings at different locations leave 4 dead, including suspect
A man is believed to have fatally shot three people at two different locations in the Houston area before killing himself on Wednesday, said police, who are still trying to determine a motive for the shootings.
“Early indications are that it’s all related,” Houston Police Department Lt. Larry Crowson said.
3. Texas Parks & Wildlife seeks to convert 54,000-acre Hill Country ranch into state park
If all goes to plan, Texas could soon be home to a sprawling new state park in the Hill Country.
The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department is working to purchase Silver Lake Ranch and convert it into a nature lover’s paradise. Located 2.5 hours west of San Antonio in Kinney and Edwards counties, the property is currently owned by the prominent Moody family of Galveston.
