A student at LaCoste Elementary is reportedly in custody after threatening to carry out a shooting at the school overnight.

The threats were investigated by both the Medina Valley ISD Police Department and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Principal Oscar Vega sent out a message to parents saying that no weapons were found in the home, and classes will continue as scheduled, but out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence.

At Lee High School, an 18-year-old student is now facing criminal charges after a firearm was discovered in their backpack. One of the charges the unidentified student is facing is possession of a stolen firearm.

Principal Alex Escamilla released a message to parents that read in part, “Campus Administration received a report that another student possibly had a gun. Campus Administration and the North East Police Department (NEPD) immediately identified and located the student in question. The student was brought into the office, and their backpack was searched as a precaution. A gun was found, and the student now faces serious consequences and criminal charges.”

The student has not been identified, and there’s no word yet on whether or not the weapon was actually loaded.
