Alleged DUI driver flees after crashing into Phoenix PD patrol car

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Authorities say a driver is in custody after crashing into a Phoenix Police patrol vehicle and fleeing the scene early Friday morning.

According to investigators, just before 1 a.m., a Phoenix police officer was driving near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road when a woman crashed into the patrol car. The woman then drove off from the scene before other officers arrived.

The officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, investigators say. Additional officers searched the area and later located the suspect.

Arizona’s Family crews witnessed the rear bumper ripped off of the patrol vehicle. The area was temporarily closed but later reopened.

Authorities say the woman was processed for DUI and will be booked into jail. Her name has not yet been released.
