Sam’s Club members have new shopping hours starting Sunday, the warehouse club said on its website.
“Extended club hours, coming soon!” a website banner on a Chicago-area Sam’s Club location read. The new hours, which go into effect Sunday, Oct. 12, mean Sam’s Club stores will be open until 8 p.m. daily for “all members.”
Previously, most stores were daily until 6 p.m., reports said, though hours may vary by store and membership tier. Walmart, which owns Sam’s Club, did not immediately respond to NBC Chicago’s request for comment.
The change comes more than a month after Costco extended its shopping hours, but only for certain members. As of Sept. 2, Costco executive members can now enter stores as early as 9 a.m. on weekdays and Sundays, giving them an extra hour of private shopping. On Saturdays, those members can enter at 9:30 a.m., with stores opening to all other members at 10 a.m.
Costco’s executive membership costs $130 a year, compared to the Gold Star membership, which costs $65 per year. Those membership fees increased on Sept. 1, 2024, from $120 for Executive membership, and $60 for Gold Star.
Sam’s Club memberships start at $50 per year for a club membership, or $110 for a plus membership.
Both Costco and Sam’s Club are typically open on Columbus Day, which falls on Monday, Oct. 13.
