In addition to the depth the Seahawks have on the 53-man roster, another possibility is to elevate veteran cornerback Shaquill Griffin from the practice squad.
“Shaq could be part of the plan based off of what’s going on, yeah,” Macdonald said, later adding, “I love having Shaq out there because he competes. He attacks all the mental stuff, he knows it, he’s got a great attitude, and he competes. We can go into games with that for sure.”
Derick Hall, who injured his oblique last week, and reserve tackle Josh Jones, who has an ankle injury, were both ruled out, as expected. Macdonald said that while there is no timetable on Hall at this point, the third-year pass-rusher is trying to make it back after Seattle’s Week 8 bye.
Linebacker Ernest Jones IV (shoulder) and safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle) are both ready to go after being on the injury report this week, as is outside linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence, who missed last week’s game with a quadricep injury.
“He’s a really important part of our team,” Macdonald said of Lawrence. “He’s set a tone since he walked in the door. It’s on record what we think about him and how he handles his business, and what we think of him as a person. So it’s great to have him back out on the field. I’m just thinking about practice right now, he made several plays today that we need to be able to make in order to give ourselves a chance.”
