Bravo has pulled the premiere episode of Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition, which was to feature Wendy Osefo following her arrest for fraud charges.
The cable network was set to premiere the offshoot series on Tuesday, October 14, with Osefo and her family at the center of it all. However, after criminal charges against her and her husband, the premiere of Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition was pushed back a week until October 21.
Osefo, a woman of multiple degrees and a proponent of higher learning, stars in The Real Housewives of Potomac, which premiered last Sunday on Bravo. The multi-facted reality TV personality and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were booked on multiple charges on Thursday, according to TMZ.
The Osefos are facing 16 charges, which include seven felonies for allegedly making false insurance claims. According to the publication, the couple claimed they were burglarized while they were away on vacation last April. The Real Housewives star claimed that jewelry pieces and handbags were stolen, but police later saw her wearing a diamond ring she reported stolen. Per the documents, the couple filed an insurance claim for $450,000 in property loss.
Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition features stars of The Real Housewives franchise swapping places with every day mothers. The cast of the offshot also features Real Housewives of Salt Lake City‘s Angie Katsanevas, Real Housewives of Orange County‘s Emily Simpson, and Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s Melissa Gorga.
Deadline interviewed Osefo ahead of the RHOP premiere where she talked about showing herself more vulnerable and helping her husband grow her cannabis business. During the same interview, we asked if she had talked to her former co-star Karen Huger, who just got out of jail following a DUI conviction.
Although Osefo had not been in contact with Huger, her words about Huger’s future on the Bravo reality series resonate in a different way given today’s context.
“I feel like everybody should be given the opportunity to have a platform to tell their own story. There’s no point or purpose in your story being told by others,” she told us when we asked if she would like to see Huger at the RHOP reunion when the current season wraps.
Osefo is one of the many stars confirmed for BravoCon next month in Las Vegas. Given the recent events, it’s not known if she will still be attending.
