SAN ANTONIO — City leaders in San Antonio are taking action to reduce the dangerous practice of celebratory gunfire with the launch of a new campaign called “Call the Shots.”
The initiative aims to remind residents that the practice is illegal in Texas and poses a significant threat to public safety.
Members of the city council have noted an increase in calls regarding celebratory gunfire incidents last year. The campaign will utilize digital media, neighborhood outreach, and partnerships to help spread the message.
According to city officials, residents have reported an increasing number of incidents involving stray bullets around New Year’s Eve and the Fourth of July.
Residents are encouraged to report any gunfire this year by calling the non-emergency line at 210-207-7273.
