Ray Ladica knocked down the game-winning basket to help Arellano University deal back-to-back losses to defending champion Perpetual with 97-95 overtime win in the NCAA Season 101 juniors basketball on Saturday at MOA Arena.
Ladica escaped three defenders and sank a tough floater to give the Braves the two-point cushion with 3.8 seconds to go in the fourth. He then dazzled on the other end, putting the clamps on a potential three-pointer from Ezekiel Zamoras as Arellano survived the extended match.
That clutch performance capped off a huge outing from Ladica, who finished with a game-high 23 points together with seven rebounds, one assist, three steals, and one block as Arellano cruised to their back-to-back games for a 2-1 card in Group A.
Axel Mendoza provided the lift with 13 points while Sean Franco and Aaron Manansala chipped in 12 markers each as the resurgent Braves sent the Junior ALTAs reeling to their second straight loss.
The loss spoiled the explosive offensive performances from Don Rosales and Zamoras as they posted 25 and 24 points, respectively, while Hanz Llupar chimed in with 11 markers in the loss.
Perpetual, which was coming off a 65-57 loss to Mapua last Wednesday, failed to bounce back and dropped to an even 2-2 slate.
