Police said the man was a passenger when occupants from another vehicle opened fire on the car he was in.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man was fatally shot Saturday evening while riding in a vehicle in southwest Fort Worth, police said.

According to the Fort Worth Police Department, officers were dispatched around 6:35 p.m. Oct. 11 to the 2700 block of Woodmont Trail in response to a shooting call. When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the torso. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, FWPD said.

FWPD said the preliminary investigation indicates the victim had been a passenger in a vehicle traveling near the 6500 block of Brookhaven Trail and Altamesa Boulevard when someone in another vehicle opened fire, striking both the victim and the car he was in.

The suspect vehicle fled the area, and no arrests have been made, police said. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the victim’s identity, as well as the official cause and manner of death.

Police have not released any information on a possible motive or the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing.
