CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Cowboys entered Sunday’s game against the Panthers with the eighth-most rushing yards (672) and the eighth-most rushing yards per game (134.4).

They left Bank of America Stadium in shambles.

The Cowboys rushed for a season-low 31 yards with an awful 1.6 yards per carry.

Javonte Williams, who led the team in rushing with 447 yards entering the game to rank third in the NFL, had just 29 yards on 13 carries. He averaged just 2.2 yards per carry.

Jaydon Blue, the rookie, who moved up the depth chart with Miles Sanders out for the season with a knee injury, had zero yards on three carries. Receiver Ryan Flournoy picked up three yards on an end-around.

As Panthers running back Rico Dowdle was saying “buckle up” to his former team, the Cowboys didn’t scare the Panthers’ defense.

In the last two games, the Panthers have allowed just 50 yards rushing.

“But, again, give Carolina credit they were the more physical team today,” coach Brian Schottenheimer said. “We knew it was going to be a physical game and I’m man enough to stand up here in front of you guys and say that. I don’t like it. I don’t like saying it to our team but when you turn on the film, that’s what you’re going to see.”
