Patrick Sleat may be a new guy on the NCAA block, but the versatile guard is wasting no time proving he belongs.

The transferee from Far Eastern University has been nothing short of steady and solid for University of Perpetual Help System DALTA as he helped the ALTAs race to a roaring 4-0 start in the NCAA Season 101.

Perpetual remains the lone unbeaten team in the league after taking down San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Arellano University, and, the biggest fish of them all, defending champion Mapua University.

All of those games saw Sleat pump in crucial numbers.

In their opener against the Golden Stags, Sleat impressed with 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, five steals, and one block to mark his NCAA debut with a 67-54 victory. He then posted nine markers, four boards, three dimes, one steal, and one block in their 73-61 win over the Pirates.

Against the reigning champions Cardinals, Sleat dazzled with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds laced with five assists, three blocks, and one block as they stunned Mapua, 75-65.

Sleat continued his consistent showing by scattering 12 points, three rebounds, three blocks, one assist, and one steal to lead their 72-67 escape against the gritty Chiefs last Saturday.

With his impressive numbers, Sleat has been named the inaugural Collegiate Press Corps NCAA Player of the Week this season, edging out his teammate Mark Gojo Cruz, San Beda’s Janti Miller, JRU’s Sean Salvador, Mapua’s JC Recto, and Benilde’s Justine Sanchez for the citation.

The 24-year-old Sleat admitted he felt at home in Perpetual, especially with head coach Olsen Racela, his former coach at FEU, calling the shots.

“Halos same lang din pinapatakbo rito [sa Perpetual]. May mga konting lang na adjustments,” Sleat said.

Even Racela lauded Sleat’s veteran presence, saying his trusted guard will be a key cog for the rest of their campaign this year.

“‘Yung [experience] ang kailangan namin last year. Nadagdagan din kami ng mga recruits namin from high school to the transferees,” Racela added.
