• $3.22 per gallon average for regular, up 2.5 cents in the past week.

• 6.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 4.7 cents higher than a year ago.

• $2.82 per gallon is cheapest station in the market, up 3 cents in a week.

• New Jersey: $2.99 per gallon, down 0.8 cent.

• $3.02 per gallon average nationally, down 6.4 cents.

• $3.63 per gallon average price of diesel nationally, down 3.5 cents.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, on the big picture: “Americans appear to be on the cusp of seeing the national average drop below $3 per gallon for the first time in years … With well over 40 states seeing gas prices decline and oil plunging below $60 per barrel to end the week, the good news may not end if — and when — the national average hits that magical $2.99 mark. … In addition, with wages up and gas prices down, Americans are spending the smallest share of their paycheck on gasoline in many years.”
