There’s no better time than summer in Chicago, especially if you are a music fan. From one of the biggest festivals in the world to the long-awaited return of a Grammy-winning rock band, here’s a list of some of the most exciting events happening in the month of July.
Lollapalooza – Grant Park July 31 – Aug. 3
On July 31, Lollapalooza will kick-off in Grant Park. The four-day event features performances by Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Rebecca Black, Doechii, Clairo, and many more. Along with all the fun happening downtown, there are also TONS of official aftershows happening at venues across the city including Sierra Ferrell at Metro on July 30 and Chicago’s own Ravyn Lenae at Park West on July 31.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Chicago Theatre July 22 & 23
Yeah Yeah Yeahs perform at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago on June 1, 2023.
We here at Rebellious Magazine love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and you have two opportunities to see Karen O and company as they are set to perform at the Chicago Theatre on July 22 & 23. The venue is a unique one for the band – who are typically found at rock clubs or amphitheaters – so this is a must-see unique concert for fans of the New York rockers.
Keyshia Cole – United Center July 5
With her debut album, The Way It Is, Keyshia Cole quickly rose to stardom back in 2005. Now, she is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release with a special show at The United Center on July 5. TINK, Jeremih, and Elijah Blake are also on the lineup so if you are a fan of R&B, this one is for you.
Alabama Shakes – The Salt Shed July 15 & 16
Brittany Howard performs at the Chicago Theatre on Oct. 5, 2024.
Though Brittany Howard has treated Chicago to several incredible performances in the recent past, it has been eight long years since she has toured with her band the Alabama Shakes. That all changes on July 15, when the Grammy-winners take the stage at The Salt Shed to kick-off their highly-anticipated tour, which continues with a second Chicago show on July 16.
Kesha – Credit Union 1 Amphitheater July 12
If you’re looking for a party, Tinley Park is the place to be on July 12 as Kesha is bringing The Tits Out Tour to the Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre. The show – which will also feature a set from Scissor Sisters – is happening just a few days after Kesha’s sixth studio album . (pronounced Period) comes out on July 4, so expect a joyful introduction to some exciting new music.
Elsewhere in July, Sylvan Esso and Bully will be performing at Out of Space in Skokie on July 24 and Winona Fighter is taking the stage at Subterranean on July 17. Babymetal is heading to The Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom on July 8 and The Round Table Game Show will be at Park West on July 17. And at the end of the month, Rebellious Magazine favorite Deanna Ortiz is performing at Zanies on July 31.
Hope to see you at one or more of these incredible events!
