Hundreds of shirtless fans took over sections of Boone Pickens Stadium, waving their shirts around.

A Simple Bet

It all started as a bet between brother and sister to rile some fans up during the OSU game.

“I made a remark saying, ‘Look over there,”’ said Trent Eaton. “There’s about four sections that are completely empty. Then a couple seconds later, she’s like, ‘I’ll give you $10 dollars if you go over there, take your shirt off, and wave it.’ I said, ‘Okay.”’

What began as just a few shirtless fans waving their shirts around grew to hundreds and more, trying to get the crowd and the team going.

“We came back after halftime and just saw all those empty seats, and that’s not what I’m used to for OSU to be,” said Callista Bradford. “So I was like, ‘Hey, go over there, let’s wave it, get it out, and see what happens. Get a little rowdy, because that’s what we needed.’”

So with that $10 bet as motivation, Eaton made it happen.

“At first, I thought I was going to be the only one,” said Eaton. “But then somebody else showed up, then more people showed up, then more people showed up, then once it actually started taking off, it was just fun to be a part of.”

“He’s a wild one and he’s pretty much up for a good time, no matter what,” said Bradford. “So that’s why I figured he would do it. And my nephew and the girlfriend we just met for the first time, so it was a little bit of inspiration he needed to show he was going to go.”

Going Viral

The videos have gotten millions of views, and this reaction is something neither of them expected.

“How crazy is this?” said Eaton. “Just doing something as simple as taking off your shirt and waving it turned into thousands of people wanting to watch or join in or whatever.”

They’re embracing it.

“I’m glad that there’s something good coming back to OSU, some fame for something that’s fun and nice and just having a good time and not some of the bad things that have been happening to us this year,” said Bradford.

Spreading Joy

They hope that whether the tradition continues or not for the next game, it made Cowboy fans smile on Saturday in Boone Pickens Stadium.

“Whether the day is going good or day is going bad, if you can make somebody else smile, make somebody else laugh, whether at you or with you, as long as it’s all in good fun, it will make their day better and then move on and just be a better person about it,” said Eaton.
