Does Hochul plan to endorse Mamdani?

NEW YORK – Zohran Mamdani beat Andrew Cuomo in the third round of ranked choice voting, winning New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary, per results released by the New York City Board of Elections.

JUMP TO ELECTION RESULTS FOR: MAYOR | COMPTROLLER | MANHATTAN BOROUGH PRESIDENT | CITY COUNCIL

Dig deeper:

Ranked choice voting allows voters to list up to five candidates in order of preference. If no candidate surpasses the 50% threshold, the last-place candidate is eliminated, and those votes go to the next choice on each ballot. This process continues until two candidates remain; whoever has the most votes then wins. The BOE plans to certify the results on July 15.
