SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WSBT) — Penn grad Markus Burton is the first Notre Dame player selected to the preseason first team All-ACC list since John Mooney in 2019.
Burton averaged a league-best 21.3 points per game last year as a sophomore and was a second-team all-conference selection.
He also improved from beyond the arc, going from a 30.0 percent shooter freshman year to 37.5 percent as a sophomore. In ACC play, he shot 40.2 percent from deep.
Burton was also tied third for ACC preseason player of the year voting, alongside former Irish guard JJ Starling of Syracuse.
Notre Dame was picked to finish 10th out of the 18 teams in the league.
